I believe we each have an innate wisdom that can help guide us through challenges in life. At times we may lose our connection to this inner instinct and voice. As we learn to adapt to trauma, anxiety, overwhelm, and relationship distress, we can find ourselves straying further away from our values and at a loss for how to find fulfillment in our intimate relationships and in our lives. Turning inward, with compassion, acceptance, and mindfulness can help us find our way again. This process of looking deeply into ourselves, in the context of a supportive relationship, has the potential to enhance and accelerate the process of healing and growth.
My approach to psychotherapy is collaborative, relational, and strengths-based. It is important to me that you feel accepted, heard, and understood in your experience. It is important to me to highlight and reinforce your strengths. I incorporate Person-Centered Counseling, skills training, values exploration, and Motivational Interviewing into my work with clients. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, and families, and I am passionate about supporting clients working through trauma, grief and loss, addiction and substance use concerns, chronic pain, illness, health concerns, and life transitions.
In 2021, I completed my master’s degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling with a Specialization in Addictions Treatment from the Lewis & Clark Graduate School of Education and Counseling in Portland, Oregon. I have training in Person-Centered Counseling, Socio-Emotional Relationship Therapy, the Seeking Safety treatment curriculum, and addictions and problem gambling counseling. I am a registered Associate with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. As an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor (registration number #11622), I am gaining supervised hours towards licensure, and I am supervised by Sevil Gonen, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist #110795.
