Perinatal and Postpartum Therapy

Navigating the perinatal period or postpartum can be filled with lots of unknowns and new experiences. You do not have to navigate these experiences alone.

Birthing mothers are told so many myths, truths, and everything in-between the time of conception and into childhood years. Especially for first-time mothers, this can be a confusing time period in your life. We are told how to get pregnant, when to get pregnant, why we are not pregnant, what to do during labor or delivery, we are told what to do in motherhood.

During the first few years of motherhood, it’s common to have relationship issues, not taking care of yourself, struggling to care for a baby, unemployment, disability, and new or an increase of mental health issues.  In the US alone, more than 400,000 infants are born to mothers with depression.

Fathers are also deeply impacted by postpartum years. If may look a little different, “checking out”, increased self-isolation, distractions, or habits, they may be more irritable, aggressive, and struggle with sleep.

If you or your partner are ready for support in your parenthood journey, we have qualified therapists ready to help. Our therapists have additional training in Perinatal Mental Health that specializes especially in the needs of the whole adventure of becoming parents. As well as complex experiences like medically ill and special needs children, NICU parenting, loss and grief, birth trauma, and partner conflicts.
