Frequently Asked Questions

Serving Davis, CA

Do you provide video sessions?

Yes. All of our therapy sessions are online at this time. Our primary concern is the safety of our clients and our clinicians. If you need in-person sessions, our office is more than happy to help you find the right provider.

What are your hours?

Most appointments can be made between Monday to Friday. Some weekend appointments are available.

What are your rates?

Rates vary based on clinician:

Sevil Gonen, LMFT is $210 per 50-minute session.

Christina Platenkamp, APCC is $145 per 50-minute session.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We accept credit cards, and some FSA/HSA cards.

Do you accept insurance?

We are not “in-network” with any insurance companies at this time. We are happy to provide a superbill for possible reimbursement from your insurance company. We strongly recommend that you contact your insurance company and ask them about your “out-of-network benefits for an outpatient mental health service”.  Each plan is different and we have no way of knowing what your plan will cover.

In some special cases, we can help with a single-case agreement. This is one agreement with an insurance company and therapist for one client only. Please ask us for more information. We are happy to help.

Common Questions about insurance:

  • What is a superbill? A superbill is a document that includes your personal identifying information such as your name, date of birth, address,  and other information for your insurance company. It will also include a diagnosis and dates of sessions with your therapist.
  • Why can my therapist not tell me details about my insurance plan type or coverage? Since we are not linked with any insurance under contract we can not provide you with any information regarding your plan type, your deductible, out-of-network benefits, and more. We highly encourage clients to learn each of their plans.
  • Can I see a therapist if I am under my parent’s insurance plan? It depends. If you are under 18 generally your parents will need to know about your session dates and have some part in services. Most information is still held under confidentiality unless it breaches  safety concerns of a minor. If you are over 18 but still on your parent’s insurance plan. You can begin therapy, however, we can not discuss your plan of care, diagnosis, or treatment of any kind unless you give us explicit rights to do so. Your therapist can discuss this in more detail with you.
  • What’s a statement for insurance? A statement is the dates of sessions, your personal information, and no diagnosis. Many clients like to have a statement over a superbill for privacy reasons. Or to submit for credit towards their annual deductible.

How do I know if counseling is right for me?

Each individual’s needs will vary for counseling services. This is a decision that is solely yours to make. Finding the right connection with a therapist is so important. Contact us today for a free 15-minute consultation phone appointment to find the right therapist for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for a 24-hour notice to cancel appointments. If cancellations are made during this time, you may be responsible for the full session fee.
